J.Vaughn’s Bigfoot/Sasquatch Page

I internet-toured Kentucky Bigfoot (yesterday) and today I’m still in that state, looking at J. Vaughn’s Bigfoot/Sasquatch Page about Bigfoot sightings in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Kentucky. He emphasizes that his is a NO KILL Bigfoot research site. I’m definitely on his side with that issue!
He writes that when we’re outdoors hoping to hear a howl or scream, “…the main thing to remember is to have fun and enjoy your trip to the woods & be safe.” That’s so true. We need to remember that the joy of Bigfoot research isn’t just in having sightings or finding evidence. There’s also a lot of pleasure just being in the great outdoors, visiting with Bigfoot research friends, and enjoying fresh air and skies full of bright stars.
J. Vaughn has listed a lot of links to show how much information is available these days about Bigfoot sightings. He also has some very helpful links to related sites, such as “Maps, Tools, & Animal Track Links” and “Animal Sound Links.”
On a separate page he wrote more about his opinion on Bigfoot research. He states that he believes that Bigfoot is a flesh and blood living creature related to gorillas, orangutans, or apes. He does not pursue paranormal explanations including UFO or shape-shifting theories. He’s hoping for a no-kill end to the Bigfoot mystery. He also calls for an end to fighting and arguing between Bigfoot research groups since all have similar goals.

Kentucky Bigfoot

Kentucky Bigfoot is the home of a compelling article about an ancient Cherokee burial ground that may have Bigfoot skeletons in it. The entire section on Bigfoot sighting reports is absolutely fascinating.
When you get close to the bottom of the page you’ll see the headline, “Henderson County – Spottsville, Ky. -1975,” and there’s a link to the entire story. Don’t miss this one… it is webmaster Bart Nunnelly’s story of the Spotsville Monster that terrorized his family when he was a youngster.
The Spotsville Monster story is especially fascinating when you read the neighbor’s experiences which include telepathic communication from the monster, and an apparent interdimensional gateway. The neighbor said the gateway was a few yards wide and looked wavy like hot air rising, and that he saw these monsters (Bigfoot?) emerging from it. Whether you believe in a paranormal Bigfoot or not, the story is worth reading. Bart Nunnelly is a great writer – his sighting stories are riveting.
There’s a nice selection of photographs on the site including one that could be some Bigfoot sitting with their back to the camera. But why are these photos always so blurry!? There are some drawings further down on the photo page that will make you wonder if Bigfoot is really that much more frightening in Kentucky. Very scary stuff indeed!
There’s a sighting report form on the site and a page full of new sighting reports. I’d call that essential reading for anyone who lives in Kentucky!

The Kentucky Bigfoot Sighting – Game Cam Picture
Was a Kentucky Bigfoot raiding some poor gardener’s veggie patch for a delicious midnight snack?
Kenny Mahoney wanted to know who or what was wrecking his plans for a productive garden, so he installed a game cam, which was a clever and good idea. The big surprise was finding a big black blurry blob of a possible primate caught in action in his game cam’s lens.
So everyone wants to know — is it a possible Bigfoot? Well, I hate to disappoint the excited public, but Bigfoot bloggers are skeptical, myself included.
I totally believe there are Bigfoot living in Kentucky… that’s not the issue. At issue is the extreme blurriness of the photograph. To me that says, “inconclusive.” I can’t verify that it is Bigfoot if I can’t see it, and just a shape isn’t enough. As Kenny Mahoney said in the video, “I don’t ever rule anything out but it is a real long shot.”
Kenny’s wife, Margaret, gave the photograph to a wildlife expert, who believes this thing has fur and isn’t a black plastic garbage bag in the wind. Bill Dranginis of Virginia Bigfoot Research thinks it could be a crow or raven taking flight. Personally I think the crows and ravens are more likely seedling thieves than Bigfoot, who would need more substantial roots and greens to survive.
I wasn’t even going to comment on this due to the blurriness of the inconclusive photo, but I’ve got three times the normal number of people coming to this blog for the last two days. This always happens when a Bigfoot story hits big media. So I’m giving you what you want… a comment.
My comment is that it could be a bird, a bear, a Bigfoot, a bag … hey, those all start with the letter B. Well, it is also Blurry as can be so I can’t form an opinion that would mean anything.
Seriously, if you’re curious about Bigfoot keep in mind that Bigfoot research is an awesome, fun hobby. You get to face the mysterious, the unknown, and conquer your fears. So if you’re curious enough to look for information on Google, maybe you’re curious enough to walk into the woods at the site of a recent Bigfoot encounter. What do you say to that?

Tribal Bigfoot – Comments on Chapter One: “Historical Bigfoot”

I love historic accounts of Bigfoot encounters found in newspapers of the 1800′s in the USA. I wonder how many of these old news articles are still undiscovered. David Paulides came up with some fascinating articles for the first chapter of Tribal Bigfoot — possibly from the Ray Crowe archive he purchased.
After reading the entire chapter, the historic articles that remain in my memory are those with detailed descriptions of a possible Bigfoot-like creature. Back then they were called “wild men.” They are described as having skin resembling a horses’s — not what I’d expect at all — but it fits: hair-covered hide, hands similar to bear paws.
What’s very cool about these news articles is that there are several accounts of a captured Bigfoot. One article is from 1833 in Kentucky (pages 48 and 49), and another from 1839 in Ohio (pages 44 through 46). Both these provide detailed descriptions of the appearance and behavior of the “wild man” that we would probably call Sasquatch or Bigfoot today. Another account of a captured wild man was published in 1908 in Wisconsin about a Volva, North Dakota incident (page 46).
If they were actually captured back then, it makes me wonder why we have such a difficult time doing the same now. Could it be that we (as a species) have learned incompetence during the last 170 years? Could television and radio waves and cell phone EMFs have affected us … and made us lazy? Yes, times have changed.. so are we capable of duplicating the captures of the past? Or, were these accounts of hairy wild man captures simply facetious? (I think not.) Another wild theory of mine is that these captured wild men were able to put the word out to others of their species through psychic means, to warn them that if they had contact with humans they could end up captured. Are Bigfoot creatures more cautious now because of what has happened in the past?
Captivity seemed to drain the fight out of these wild men. The Ohio article stated, “He is now quite tame and quiet and is only confined by a stout chain attached to his legs.” I find it hard to believe that a stout chain could stop a Bigfoot from escape. A few years back I saw a thick and hefty chain which had held two goats, that had been broken so that something (a possible Bigfoot) could take the goats for food. (The remains were found nearby on a hill in a wooded area.) Perhaps the Ohio wild man lost his strength because of a changed diet, or just a lack of will to escape.
The Kentucky account involved a possible Bigfoot on a train. He was being taken to New York to hopefully be sold to PT Barnum’s circus. This article states, “When Conductor Harry Smith took out his glistening nickel plated punch to cancel the tickets the wild man watched the punch intently until he heard it snap. Then he got down in the corner of the seat fairly shivering with fear, and set up a low howl…”
Could it be that the Ohio and Kentucky captured wild men were one and the same? Not if you believe the stories from the newspapers. The Ohio wild man was captured near the Mississippi River and the wild man on the train in Kentucky was said to have lived in North Carolina. He was also said to have been a sharp shooter and murderer. The part about being a sharp shooter doesn’t sound realistic so that brings into question the credibility of the men who possessed the wild man. Even so, the Kentucky article pre-dates the Ohio article by six years so it is unlikely to have been the same creature.
Another old news article that changed how I think about Bigfoot is the “What Is It” article published June 25, 1891 in Woodland, California, found in Tribal Bigfoot on pages 33 and 34. It tells of Mr. Herman Gilbert who was exploring Capay Valley, near Rumsey. David Paulides identified Rumsey as being a small town near Clear Lake in Northern California. The article tells that Mr. Gilbert found and followed footprints to a ravine where he witnessed an agitated Bigfoot-like creature “covered in gore” near a pile of rotting animal remains that stank severely. It made me wonder if members of the Bigfoot species are in the habit of covering themselves with gore to produce a terrible stench. It could be a way of self-protection from forest animals, or a way to keep human beings at bay.

Bigfoot Are The Old People of the Forest
Bart Nunnelly expects his book, Mysterious Kentucky, to be published this summer. He is also part owner of Kentucky Bigfoot, along with Charlie Raymond. About.Com has published an article he wrote about a Cherokee man he visited while researching his book, in Bigfoot and the Cherokee Hill. The article was previously published at Kentucky Bigfoot Sightings Reports along with lots of pictures.
This article gives one of the best descriptions of the physical appearance of a Bigfoot that I’ve read. There’s also a Bigfoot picture which Nunnelly sketched with the help of his Cherokee friend. Very impressive!
The Cherokee man, named only M.F. in the article, said he had frequent Bigfoot sightings during his youth, including observing them regularly at a field where they scavenged for roots and grasses. Nunnelly recounts an incident when M.F.’s grandfather watched a Bigfoot carry away two full-grown pigs weighing two hundred pounds each.
M.F. carried with him a huge tooth he believed came from a Bigfoot. He showed Nunnelly where he found it – in a valley filled with Cherokee graves. Maybe some of my ancestors are there – my great-grandfather was Cherokee. I was touched by Nunnelly’s description of the area, which he’s promised to keep a secret.
Bigfoot Sighting Leads To Litigation
When Matt Moneymaker, owner of BFRO, had a Bigfoot sighting while on expedition in Kentucky, he probably never thought it would end up in court. The BFRO Bigfoot video footage, which was sold to Adrian Erickson of Newgrowth Capital Corp. for $20,000, was intended to become a part of a motion picture which is in production at this time.
According to Newgrowth Capital Corp v. Craig Woolheater and Cryptomundo, LLC, Woolheater declined to sign a non-disclosure agreement to view a clip of the Kentucky Bigfoot sighting film at the BFRO website. The lawsuit also alleges that Woolheater severed ties with the organization and, after receiving the clip from a BFRO member, posted it to his blog, Cryptomundo, which as it turns out is a LLC: Limited Liability Company based in California.
